Ward Anirniq is home to hard-working families, vibrant small businesses, and deeply rooted communities. It is a highly diverse ward, a place where people from many backgrounds live, raise their children, and build their futures. That diversity is a strength, and it must be better reflected in how our city plans, invests, and grows.
While other areas of Edmonton continue to see new development and investment, much of Northwest Edmonton has been left behind. Outside of Griesbach, a few industrial zones, and the Yellowhead Trail renewal, most neighborhoods in Ward Anirniq have seen little meaningful development in years. That includes delayed upgrades to playgrounds, under-invested parks, aging road infrastructure, and a lack of modern community or recreation facilities. Many parts of this Ward have gone years without valuable reinvestment. There is a real opportunity to focus on neighborhoods that have been left out of recent development conversations.
My campaign is about getting back to what matters: safe streets, well-maintained infrastructure, meaningful investment in our communities, and a city budget that delivers real value to the people who live here. It's about building a city that works for everyone, not just on paper, but in our everyday lives.
Back to Basics
Fix the core services first. That means potholes, sidewalks, waste removal, snow removal, safe roads, and maintained parks and green spaces. Residents are asking for simple, visible results, and they deserve them.
Transparent, Responsible Spending
Taxpayers should know and see where their money is going and what it’s accomplishing. Budget decisions must be clear, justified, and tied to outcomes.
Safer Streets and Neighborhoods
Everyone deserves to feel safe using public transit, walking or driving through their community, and knowing their property is secure. This means better lighting, more visible and engaged policing, targeted traffic calming where needed, and safety strategies that are shaped by the community itself.
Stronger Local Businesses
Ward Anirniq is home to incredible businesses that anchor our neighborhoods and provide jobs and services. Supporting small and medium-sized businesses means reducing barriers and creating a business environment that helps local entrepreneurs grow and succeed.
Real Community Engagement
Residents deserve clear information and meaningful opportunities to help shape the future of their neighborhoods. Too often, decisions are made with limited input. Consultation should be early, transparent, and reflect the broader community, not just a few voices. This is especially important for development, infrastructure, and renewal. Engagement works best when it is inclusive, accessible, and ongoing.
Balanced, Accountable Growth
As cities grow and change, so do the needs of their neighborhoods. Growth and renewal are essential, but they must be thoughtful, balanced, and accountable. One-size-fits-all approaches and blanket policies rarely work in diverse communities. Lasting progress comes from engagement that’s paired with a real understanding of each neighborhood’s character, concerns, and priorities.
Support for Families and Seniors
A livable city supports people of all ages. That includes accessible parks, family-friendly recreation options, and public spaces where seniors can stay active, social, and connected. When we design communities with families and seniors in mind, everyone benefits.
